In March 2021, the government published its Defence & Security Industrial Strategy (DSIS), which aims to develop a new relationship industry. The DSIS describes nineteen segments and made a commitment to developing individual responses to these segment areas where it was meaningful to do so. The ‘Digital Backbone’ segment is one of those segments.
Defence Digital has been looking at a Digital Response to the Defence and Security Industrial Strategy (DSIS) as part of its Digital Transformation programme and the initial work provided valuable information into a health of the defence supplier base assessment undertaken by the DSIS team. With the publication of the Defence Command Paper Refresh 2023, the work has been re-invigorated. This time, the DSIS Cyber Segment will be included, in addition to the Digital Backbone Segment.
Stakeholder engagement within the MOD is currently being undertaken with the aim of having draft recommendations that can be tested during DSEi23 (12-15 Sep 23). This is an opportunity for members of Team Defence Information to have early sight of the draft and submit comments if they wish. Comments can either be in writing to David Hawken or at a hybrid event hosted at the Team Defence Information offices in the Briarlands Office Park on 24 August 2023, with a Teams option for those unable to travel.
