Low Carbon Bases –A Defence Support Force Development Board Workshop. 14 October 2022
On 14th October 2022, Team Defence, and the Ministry of Defence, hosted the Sustainable Defence Support Working Group low carbon bases workshop. The event was held at the Frazer-Nash Consultancy offices in Bristol.
Aim
Focused on energy this workshop explored options for Defence’s transition from today’s operational base energy supplied by inefficient diesel generators to a more resilient lower carbon future with reduced logistics footprint and potential solutions out beyond 2030.
Format
Presentations set the context and outlined current thinking before workshops challenged the ambition, identified additional solutions, explored potential design principles and started to roadmap the journey of research and experimenting that will generate an evidence base to help inform balance of investment decisions for future capability development.
